Shenzhen Dictionary Privacy Policy
Effective date: 19 September 2026
App: Shenzhen Dictionary (SZ Dict)
Developer: Carr Engenharia
Privacy contact: contato@carr.eng.br
This policy explains how Carr Engenharia ("we", "us") handles information in the Shenzhen Dictionary Android app (shown as SZ Dict on your device), including dictionary searches, reading, camera and image recognition, the optional screen assistant, pronunciation playback and widgets. The Android package name is engineering.carr.szdict.
SZ Dict does not require an account, display advertisements or sell personal information. Dictionary lookup and image recognition take place on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your searches, reading passages, images or recognized text. Google’s ML Kit SDK sends technical metrics to Google, as described below.
Information used on your device
When you search or read text, SZ Dict processes the text locally to find dictionary entries and identify words. It saves your latest search query, display preferences and widget settings in local app storage so they can be restored. A query pasted from the clipboard is saved in the same way as a typed query. The app does not maintain a full search history.
Images, screen captures, reading passages and recognition results are held in memory for the current app session. SZ Dict does not create a saved photo library or screenshot history. These temporary items are released when the app process ends. Original images selected from another app remain wherever you originally stored them.
Camera images and clipboard
Camera access is optional. SZ Dict requests camera permission when you use camera capture, and uses captured images to recognize Chinese text on your device. You can instead choose individual images with Android’s photo picker or share an image to SZ Dict from another app. The app does not request broad photo-library access.
SZ Dict reads clipboard text when you use a paste action or the Read Clipboard shortcut. While the relevant search or reading interface has focus, it also reads available clipboard text to determine whether paste controls should be enabled. It does not monitor the clipboard in the background. Using Copy places the chosen text on the Android clipboard, where Android and other apps may handle it under their own rules.
Optional screen assistant
If you choose SZ Dict as your default digital assistant and invoke it, Android may supply a screenshot and visible text from the current screen. SZ Dict uses this content for local text recognition and dictionary lookup. It does not continuously record your screen. Android and the foreground app determine what content is available.
You can stop this access by changing your default assistant in Android settings. SZ Dict does not request microphone permission or record your voice; its screen-assistant feature uses Android’s assistant framework for text and images.
Google ML Kit and technical metrics
SZ Dict uses Google’s bundled ML Kit Chinese text-recognition SDK. ML Kit processes input images and recognition results on-device and does not send that content to Google servers.
ML Kit sends technical metrics to Google, including device and app information, a per-installation identifier, performance measurements, API configuration, input and output sizes, feature versions, event types and error codes. Google uses these for diagnostics, usage analysis, API maintenance and improvement, and abuse detection. Metrics may include SDK initialization events, not only completed camera scans.
Google documents HTTPS encryption for these transmissions. Google’s processing and retention are governed by its own policies. SZ Dict has no in-app control to delete metrics already held by Google.
For details, see Google ML Kit terms and privacy, ML Kit data disclosures and the Google Privacy Policy.
Other apps and services you choose
Translate sends the selected sentence to the installed Google Translate app. Sentence playback sends the text to your selected Android text-to-speech engine, which may process it online depending on the engine, voice and settings. Packaged word and syllable recordings play locally.
Opening a source or license link launches your browser. These external apps and services handle the information they receive under their own privacy policies. SZ Dict does not control their retention or processing. This policy covers the Android app; any website hosting this policy may have its own hosting logs, cookies or privacy notice.
Privacy questions and support messages
If you contact Carr Engenharia, we receive your email address and whatever information you include. We use it to respond, investigate the issue and handle your request. Our email provider processes the correspondence to deliver and store it. Please avoid sending sensitive images or text unless needed for your request.
We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request and any related legal obligations or disputes. You can ask us to delete it using the contact address below. We may retain information where the law requires it and will explain any applicable limitation.
Retention deletion and your choices
Your latest search query and preferences remain on your device until replaced or removed. Clear the search field to replace the saved query with an empty value. To remove saved app data, use Android Settings → Apps → SZ Dict → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall SZ Dict. Setting names vary by device. Clearing app storage resets the app; clearing cache alone does not remove all saved settings.
The app is configured to disable Android cloud backup and device transfer of its app data. Deleting app data does not delete original photos in your gallery, text copied to the system clipboard, support emails or information already sent to external providers.
You can revoke camera permission in Android settings and change your default assistant at any time. SZ Dict has no account to delete. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information, or to object to processing. Contact us to exercise rights concerning information we hold. We cannot retrieve the searches or images that remain only on your device.
Security
Local saved settings use Android’s app-private storage. Camera access is controlled through Android permissions, and optional screen access is controlled through Android’s assistant settings. ML Kit’s metric transmissions use HTTPS. Device security, your chosen external services and information you decide to share also affect the protection of your data.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the app’s data practices change and revise the effective date. The policy is available in the app and on the privacy-policy page linked from the Google Play listing.
